About me
Melissa Gartly earned her BA/BEd from the University of Lethbridge and has since dedicated her career to rural Alberta education, teaching at the elementary and junior high level and serving as vice-principal before becoming principal. She is passionate about building leaders and fostering a culture where every member of the school community—staff, students, parents, and partners—feels valued and connected. Guided by the belief that every student can lead, Melissa introduced Project Citizen, a project-based learning initiative that empowers students to become active, responsible citizens through local and global service projects. Outside of school, she enjoys time with her husband Jon and their four children—Nolan, Norah, Nate, and Jayden—often spending evenings playing games or cheering for the Blue Jays.
