About me
Chantel Axani is the Chief Superintendent of Holy Spirit School Division, where she leads 16 schools and one outreach centre that support approximately 5700 students across the region. She approaches her role with a deep commitment to modeling the Catholic faith and to fostering excellence in teaching and learning. As a teacher first, she carries an enduring belief that every decision must centre on the dignity, well-being, and success of students. This conviction inspires her to walk closely with staff, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and equipped to offer the highest quality learning experiences for children. Chantel began her career in 2006 after graduating from the University of Alberta. Her journey has included service as a classroom teacher, vice principal, principal, and deputy superintendent. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Assessment from the University of Calgary, and her experience spans kindergarten through Grade 12. Her time in senior administration strengthened her understanding of human resources, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit education, mental health, and student wellness. Each transition in her career has represented a meaningful milestone, guided by mentors who modeled the importance of listening, pausing, and leading with curiosity. She describes her leadership as rooted in servant leadership. She strives to build capacity, nurture the strengths and wisdom of others, and foster collaborative relationships among school and system leaders. Her work is shaped by Catholic social teaching and a belief that each person is a child of God. The scripture verse that grounds her is from Hebrews 6:19 "Hope anchors the soul." Chantel currently serves as President of the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta (CCSSA) and remains an active member of the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS). She feels blessed to serve in Catholic education and believes the Holy Spirit has guided each step of her vocation, leading her to serve where she is most needed.
